For historic attractions, the beautiful city of Cambridge is hard to beat. Although Cambridge is a city without a cathedral, it has some remarkable churches. Great St Mary’s Church is the University church, worth a visit for its tower views over the university colleges. Kings College Chapel is simply inspirational. You can take in many of the sights from a riverside walk or enjoy a leisurely ride in a punt. Cambridge hosts a variety of festivals, galleries and live music events. Cambridge has something for everyone all year round. Another great day out is the City of Ely, it’s magnificent cathedral standing high above the Great Fen. Peterborough is also a cathedral city, steeped in history and now well known for its Nene Valley heritage steam railway. Duxford Imperial War Museum homes one of the finest military and civil aircraft collections in Europe, many of which can be seen being maintained and flying at air shows and prom’ concerts. |
